About us

Felicity School is a private therapeutic day school  committed to the fundamental belief that all students can achieve greatness and be successful in settings that accentuate their skills.  Our access to a wide variety of activities and experiences create a unique sense of belonging. By integrating vocational/transition programs, experiential learning, individualized programming, technology, appropriate counseling and support services, we help students develop a sense of self-worth, accept responsibility, and be equipped to make healthy life decisions. Our students will understand ethics and values while developing a strong sense of community. We proudly serve students from grades 6-12.

Why choose us?

  • Who are we?

Felicity School is designed to serve students who are eligible for special education services in the categories of Emotional Disability (ED), Learning Disability (LD), and Other Health Impaired (OHI).  Regardless of the diagnosed eligibility category, students referred to Felicity School  have behavioral overlays that negatively affect their ability to learn in their home school setting.  We are approved to serve up to 60 students in grades 6 through 12 and are housed in a facility located in Deerfield, Illinois called “Joy of the Game”.

Felicity School is a non-traditional, school environment with open and flexible spaces that ameliorates some of the negative feelings that students might associate with a more traditional school setting. Our student to staff ratio is a maximum of 10 students working with 2 staff members (one certified teacher and one paraprofessional).  Related Services staff are available as directed by each student’s Individual Education Plan.

  • Our Values

As an organization, we have developed a set of core values regarding our approach to education. We will manage our school, students, staff,  and instruction based on these fundamental beliefs:

    •     All students can achieve greatness.
    •     Education is a partnership with community, parents, school faculty, local businesses and more.
    •     Learning happens best in a safe, friendly, positive environment.
    •     The whole individual should be developed integrating the body, spirit, and mind.
    •     Experiential learning is critical for development and growth.
    •     Developing social-emotional skills is crucial to a well-rounded education.
    •     Behaviours are best developed with positive supports.
    •     We value choice, independence, and accountability and will provide these to all our  students and staff.
    •     We value our diverse learners and diversity in our staff.
    •     Academic growth will occur as we utilize data, individualize instruction, teach to strengths, and remediate weaker areas.
  • Our Vision

Cultivating the mind, body, and spirit:

Felicity School will be the premiere private therapeutic day school leveraging superior staff and facilities to provide a curriculum and experience focused on the individual.  Felicity School will create successful students and citizens with unique, relevant, and appropriate experiences.

  • Connections

Connect to others and be happy:

Happiness should be an important aspect of education and the learning environment should be a joyful place where every person is comfortable, safe, eager to learn, and excited about one’s possibilities. Felicity School fundamentally believes this is a driving factor for creating success, and has taken on this ideal in name as well as practice. Our facility partner, Joy of the Game, is a natural fit as this organization bases its belief system on the fundamental idea that sports should be joyful.

At Felicity School, we provide vocational opportunities unmatched in other schools. Our students, when ready,  have access to job training, paying jobs, and potential internships.
